Rev. Ethan Stoppenhagen

Rev. Ethan Stoppenhagen was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and raised on a farm outside of Ossian, Indiana.  He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian and attended the church’s parochial school and the public high school.  He completed a Bachelor of Arts at Valparaiso University, where he studied German, Classics, and the Humanities and was a Christ College Scholar.  During his time at Valpo, he spent a semester abroad at the University of Tübingen in Germany and completed an internship with the International Lutheran Society of Wittenberg at the Old Latin School in Wittenberg.  There he helped the OLS prepare for the 500th Reformation Anniversary.

In September 2018, he began his studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  In 2020 he married his wife Lauren, and together they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where Ethan completed his vicarage at Our Savior Lutheran Church.  In August 2021, they returned to Fort Wayne for Ethan’s last year of studies, and he graduated with a Master of Divinity in May 2022.  He was ordained on June 26, 2022 at his home congregation, Bethlehem Lutheran in Ossian, Indiana.

In his free time, Pastor Stoppenhagen enjoys staying active, cooking good food, reading, and spending time with friends and family.  He would love to meet up with you for lunch or coffee.  Email him to set up an appointment:  Pastor@MessiahLutheranGermantown.org
