Moses in the Bulrushes Fundraiser

Posted on: September 5th, 2019 by Edward Lamberton

Imagine this creative painting, “Moses in the Bulrushes,” hanging in the spacious entryway of your home. Or, perhaps it would look better in your living room. This 411/2” x 411/2” work of art is for sale.

Dr. He Qi, award winning painter, is the artist and has numerous exhibitions nationally, as well as internationally. He was the first among Mainland Chinese to earn a Ph.D. in Religious Art after the Cultural Revolution. The motivation for his paintings took root during the Cultural Revolution in China, which devastated his family. Dr. He Qi found himself drawn to Western Christian Art. This led him to study God’s Word and find faith and hope in Jesus Christ. His work is a personal outreach to the Chinese people. As part of that outreach, Dr. He Qi donated this painting to Messiah’s Chinese Ministry. Ruth Horak and her late husband, Dave, purchased his artwork, and Ruth is donating it back to Messiah’s Chinese Ministry. Thank you, Ruth!

If you would like to own “Moses in the Bulrushes,” please contact Messiah Lutheran Church at 301-972-2130. There is no set price, but let’s make it a fair deal. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Messiah’s Chinese Ministry. For additional information about the artist, visit
